New Bad Reichenhall
A walk through modern Bad Reichenhall – where spa, culture and nature meet.
This route takes you through modern Bad Reichenhall – the spa town that grew from a medieval salt centre into an elegant resort of health and culture. Starting along the Saalach River, you’ll discover places devoted to relaxation and progress: from the Rupertus Thermal Spa and green parks to contemporary landmarks in the city centre.
Along the way you’ll encounter traces of Reichenhall’s new identity: spa gardens and promenades preserving the spirit of the Belle Époque, the casino symbolising post-war renewal, and modern meeting places such as the Juhasz department store. Nature and movement are ever-present too – in the Ortenaupark with its barefoot trail or the tranquil rose garden beside the spa.
After roughly two hours and six kilometres, your walk comes full circle – a journey through the Bad Reichenhall of today, where tradition and modernity, wellness and joie de vivre blend into one harmonious whole.
